A DIY Country Wedding at Boulder Springs Events in New Braunfels, Texas

Ashley James (24, Teacher) met Keegan Gross (24, Electrician) in March 2009 while on a spring break mission trip to Galveston, Texas. The undergrad students spent the week with their Texas State University student ministry group helping to rebuild homes after Hurricane Ike, but only shared one conversation. It wasn’t until a gentle but encouraging push from a friend that the co-eds got together after returning to school. From that initial reuniting, Keegan would long board across campus to visit Ashley’s dorm every night. The two would sit on the quad chatting for hours until Keegan eventually mustered up the courage to formally ask Ashley to be his girlfriend. Almost five years later, Keegan, who was living in San Marcos at the time, planned a weekend trip to visit Ashley in San Antonio. The two planned a Saturday morning drive and lunch date, typical Saturday morning plans for the long distance loves. While Ashley got ready for their date, Keegan sat and talked with Ashley’s mom, showing her the engagement ring he stashed in his pocket and clued her in on the real afternoon plans. After a long lunch, Keegan and Ashley hopped in the car to head home. Keegan steered them in a different direction, taking Ashley to Concan, a town on the Frio River. There, Keegan rented a cabin and filled the space with candles. The two walked out the back door where Keegan arranged a Mason jar candle-lit path down to the riverbank. Keegan popped the question on bended knee and presented Ashley with an intricate round diamond stunner. The couple planned a summer wedding over the course of their five month long engagement. On July 11, 2014 Keegan and Ashley tied the knot in the presence of 280 of their closest friends and family members.
