Silvia Di Francesco (26 and a teacher) and Jason Anspach (25 and a pharmacy tech) were both international students in Germany when they met. The joy and euphoria of what seemed like a love affair destined to end with their return home turned into great sadness, sleepless nights spent talking on Skype and the realization that they still wanted to be together. After years of traveling and distance, the couple decided they needed to start a life together. Jason proposed in a little apartment by Lake Como during a short getaway. The couple was married in a small town in Abruzzo, Italy called Civitella del Tronto, and their day was photographed by The Wedding Reporter. “I have loved this small town since I was little; each time I went, the absence of cars and the small medieval streets felt like true bliss,” says Silvia. “I insisted to marry there because of the emotional bond to this town and the fact that it is undeniably beautiful.” Silvia’s princess style dress was made by a lady that owns a hand-sewn bridal gown boutique in her hometown, and Jason wore a simple black suit. The couple chose a fresh white and green color palette and included white daisies and roses with ivy in the bride’s bouquet, decor and cake. After the ceremony, the couple left in a green Citron that took them to the historic and restored Palazzo Ducale della Montagnola in Corropoli for their reception, which included a rich buffet of meats and fish and desserts including a wedding cake made by a friend. Since it was an intimate reception, the couple had music playing outdoors in the courtyard where their guests could dance and mingle. Silvia and Jason gave each of their guests a “bomboniera,” or Italian memory gift of assorted sugared almonds.
