A Destination Wedding at the Eastern and Oriental Hotel in Penang, Malaysia
Adeline Lu (31 and a senior RF engineer) and KC Foo (31 and a project manager) met at college in Malaysia and bonded over food and video games. KC courted Adeline for a year before they began dating. “Love happened when I least expected it,” says Adeline. The couple dated for 11 years before KC planned a private proposal on Newport Beach in Sydney, Australia. The couple knew they wanted to be married in Malaysia where most of their families are, so they chose to have their wedding in Georgetown, Penang. “We specifically chose the Eastern and Oriental Hotel because of its colonial charm and great location in the heart of Georgetown,” says the bride. She wore a red sequined mermaid style Chinese wedding cheongsam for the tea ceremony to reflect the couple’s Chinese culture with a modern flair. For the ceremony, Adeline changed into a Pronovias Ledume dress with a feathered neckline, and KC wore a black tuxedo to complement her classic style. The couple wanted a style to complement the elegant hotel, so they chose a neutral and gold color palette with soft pops of pink and white. Their reception included a Chinese banquet dinner and samples of Malaysian traditional cakes for guests both familiar and new to the experience. All of the stunning details were captured by Eric Ronald. As favors, the couple gave their guests rose bud tea and chopsticks. “The chopsticks are a great symbol for marriage, as they are a sign of how two things work together as one unit,” says Adeline.
