A Destination Wedding at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort on St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
Megan Duet (29 and an emergency physician assistant) and Brett Adams (31 and a navy submariner) went to the same high school, but only got to know each other the summer after Brett graduated before leaving for the Navy. Life took its course and the two lost touch until years later when they reconnected via Facebook and began a long-distance relationship. When Brett got stationed in Virginia, he and Megan moved in together. About a year later, Brett got down on one knee and said, "You know what would be great? If you could be my wife. Will you marry me?" The couple knew from the start they wanted to have a destination wedding, so they decided to get married at Bolongo Bay Beach Resort on St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. "The weather was fantastic with blue skies, and we couldn't have asked for a better day to get married," says the bride. Only immediate family was present at the intimate, casual ceremony, followed by a sunset catamaran cruise around the island. "With Brett's ties to the Navy, it was a natural decision to go with a nautical theme," says Megan. After the newlyweds and their guests returned from the catamaran cruise, they had dinner as a family to relax and catch up on the day. Since Bolongo Bay planned the wedding and reception, Megan and Brett's wedding day on St. Thomas was a beautiful, no stress event that they were able to sit back and enjoy with their loved ones.
