A Destination Wedding at Azul Sensatori Resort in Cancun, Mexico

Having found their love of travel, Kindal Kivisto (28 and in digital advertising) and Mike Kivisto (31 and a trader) had a destination wedding in Cancun, Mexico. “We chose Cancun because most of our guests were traveling from Chicago, so logistically Cancun had many more direct flights,” the bride says. Azul Sensatori Resort provided a ceremony venue with an ocean overlook that the bride fell in love with, and the kid-friendly venue worked well for both the couple and their guests. Kindal’s wedding dress, with its lace bodice, cap sleeves and long, flowy skirt, was perfect for the tropical occasion. “My designer, Raimon Bundo, had dresses that were exactly what I had envisioned,” the bride says. At their ceremony, Kindal and Mike participated in the sand-pouring unity tradition, with white and gold sand in a vial with a custom, sphere topper. “My brother and his wife co-officiated the wedding,” the bride says. “We wanted the ceremony to be more intimate vs. having someone we didn’t know officiate.” At the reception, the couple allowed their guests to contribute to the soundtrack: The RSVP cards included a spot for guests to add song requests. “This was a lot of fun for us to look at with each reply, but also was a lot of fun for the guests, who mostly remembered which song was their request,” Kindal says.
