A Desert Destination Wedding at La Posada De Santa Fe Resort & Spa in New Mexico

Caitlin Clark and Phillip Hernandez lived in Washington, DC, but they headed south for a destination wedding in Santa Fe. "I grew up in New Mexico, and when I took Phillip there back in 2015 for a summer vacation, he fell in love with it," Caitlin says. 'We wanted our wedding to be an immersive experience, as most of our friends and his family had never been to the Southwest." Throughout the day, the couple worked to blend local culture with Phillip's Filipino background. His groomsmen wore traditional barongs, and favors included dried Filipino mangoes and a classic New Mexican cookie (biscochitos). Phillip wore a gray linen suit with a small gold pineapple tie clip for the ceremony and changed into a barong for the reception. Caitlin stunned in a vintage, bohemian ensemble with beading on the top. After a Catholic church ceremony, guests attended a reception at La Posada De Santa Fe Resort & Spa. "The style was very bohemian meets Southwest desert," Caitlin says. "Our flowers mainly consisted of peonies, ranunculus, pincushion proteas and anemone flowers in bright coral, orange and fuchsia colors. Several large peonies were presented on the tables in gold goblets." Dinner was inspired by local favorites, including red and green chiles, and guests ended the night with tequila shots. "One of the best moments of the night came when the event staff began to close all the doors and draw the curtains. Everyone seemed a little confused, but went on dancing and soon the band began to play 'Tequila' by The Champs. On queue, the staff reopened the patio doors to reveal our tequila donkey, who distributed shots to all our guests," Caitlin says. "It also produced one of the funniest moments of the day, when my grandmother-in-law tricked my mom into taking a full shot."
