A Courtyard Wedding at Aldea at Tlaquepaque in Phoenix, Arizona

Having a summer wedding in Phoenix, Arizona, can be challenging, but the cool courtyard at Aldea at Tlaquepaque, shaded by large trees wrapped in string lights, completely won over Selah Beck (20 and a student) and David McAvoy (21 and an accountant). Their day began with an intimate ceremony, where Selah and David recited both their own vows and classic vows surrounded by their families. Inspired by Selah’s love of pearls and the “something old” she held throughout the ceremony, her great-grandmother’s handkerchief embroidered with purple violets, she and David went with a palette of pearly creams mixed with purple hues and vibrant touches of silver. Later, David and Selah kicked off the cocktail hour with their own signature cocktails, as well as a Newlywed Arnold Palmer with a twist. A ballroom reception followed, where beautiful loftlike ceilings, a string-light backdrop and elegant decor created a super-romantic atmosphere. Selah’s mother arranged the floral bouquets and centerpieces, including purple and white flowers on mirrored bases alternating with pearl-draped candelabras. A memorable detail? Arizona Inspirations Catering provided a delicious dinner buffet that Selah and David’s guests gave raving reviews. But that’s not all: In addition to the four-tier wedding cake, Selah and her bridesmaids baked cookies to complete the meal, followed by sweet homemade caramel corn wedding favors (Selah’s favorite holiday treat). Ivonne Carlton Photography was on hand to capture the details of the day, below.
