A Country Garden Wedding at The Back Forty in Bourbon, Indiana
Susan (28 and a business office representative) and Matthew (29 and in the marina industry) met through a mutual friend and dated for close to four years before they got engaged. The outdoorsy couple were accustomed to many adventurous dates, especially kayaking trips (their favorite activity together), so Susan didn't think twice when Matt wanted to float the river one day after work. They were coasting along the water when Matt, a deer hunter, excitedly found an antler that a deer had shed, which he had never found on a hunting trip before. When Susan went up to it, she realized that it was a plant--Matt had written the proposal on the antler. They held their wedding at The Back Forty, a rustic sports club and outdoor shotgun range in Bourbon, Illinois to showcase their love of the outdoors and adventure sports. With a color scheme of mint and purple Susan and Matt incorporated pops of color into their neutral rustic decor, like centerpieces made out of wood slabs with mason jars and bottles wrapped in burlap and twine. They also included vintage details, like a piece of white picket fence, old doors and suitcases, and decorative birdcages. A set of antlers served as the centerpiece for the main table to signify the couple's engagement story. Sharing their love of comfort food, Susan and Matt served a dinner of oven fried chicken, pot roast, mashed potatoes, corn, and green beans. For their wedding fashions, Susan wore a lace, cap-sleeve, A-line wedding dress with pearls and beaded embellishment, white the groom wore a tan three-pice suit with a white tie. Bridesmaids wore sage green one-shoulder dresses to complement their bright purple hydrangea bouquets. Overall, Susan and Matt's wedding had just the right amount of rustic, outdoorsy charm with plenty of simple and sophisticated elegance.
