A Country Chic Wedding at the Thelma Keller Convention Center in Effingham, Illinois
Brennan Heuerman, 24, a mechanic, married Hayley Heuerman, 23, a registered nurse, in a country chic wedding in Effingham, Illinois. The bride and groom began dating in high school after being set up by mutual friends. After six years of dating, Brennan surprised Hayley with a proposal on her birthday. Because they were both raised Catholic, the couple's ceremony took place at their local Catholic church. Their cocktail hour and reception was held at the Thelma Keller Convention Center. "It was what I, as a bride, always wanted," Hayley says. "It was a one stop shop. They took care of setting up, tearing down, the food, and all the beverages. It was great not having to worry about those little details." Mason jars, burlap, lace and old barn wood were incorporated into the decor to achieve a country chic look. Guest had a choice of chicken, pork or pasta for dinner along with sides of carrots, garlic mashed potatoes and salad. Several different wedding cakes were served for dessert, and the bride and groom also treated their loved ones to an ice cream bar. "The ice cream came from a local ice cream shop that my aunt owns," Hayley says. "It is all homemade ice cream. We had chocolate, strawberry, and butter pecan. It was a total hit." When guests weren't eating, they hit the dance floor or played corn hole. "As a couple we like to have fun, so do our friends and family," says the bride. "Having the corn hole, large amounts of alcohol, and a great group of people there to support us made our day."
