A Coral and Navy Nautical Wedding at Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey

Shanna Heverly (31 and a dancer and fitness instructor at Physique 57) and Sean Hingel (27 and an actor) met performing in the Broadway National Tour of CATS as dance partners! For their wedding, they chose Lake Hopatcong Yacht Club in Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey, because it was outside, on the water and a little historical (one of the oldest yacht clubs in the United States!). Luckily for the busy, performing couple, Shanna’s mom is a genus in all things weddings and took care of all the details. Inspired by the natural nautical vibe of the venue, Shanna and Sean decided to own it for their day. They used a coral and navy color palette with pops of orange and ivory complete with anchors, sailors rope and triangle flags. After their traditional ceremony at United Methodist Church, the couple entered their waterfront reception by none other than a speedboat. “When we arrived back at the Yacht Club, all 180 guests were out on the lawn clapping and screaming,” Shanna says. “It was so fun! Luckily we had a perfect day to do it.” The reception tables were numbered with different kinds of nautical knots and decorated with lanterns, striped linens and lush peony and orchid centerpieces. Even the coral and navy striped menu cards were wrapped with sailors rope. Along with the five-tier white buttercream cake, Shanna and Sean served cookies and an ice cream sundae bar. As if that wasn’t sweet enough, the couple sent guests home with salt water taffy in anchor adorned burlap bags.
