A Contemporary Summer Wedding at the Abbey Resort in Fontana, Wisconsin

Amanda Madeja (25 and a marketing associate) and Matthew Tallman (25 and an insurance specialist) planned an elegant affair with a contemporary twist at the Abbey Resort in Fontana, Wis. Amanda had dreamed of an outdoor wedding and the resort’s ceremony site with a charming gazebo overlooking the marina seemed like the perfect spot to exchange vows. The site’s long history and unbeatable location on the shores of Lake Geneva were other alluring details, as well as the resort’s destination feel. “We wanted a unique venue that wasn't entirely right in our back yard,” says Amanda. “Most guests traveled less than an hour to the wedding.” The couple used a bright, classic color palette of coral, navy and gold to infuse the day with a summery vibe and incorporated fun, non-traditional elements for a touch of personal flair. Amanda and Matthew kicked off the festivities with a ceremony on the shores of Lake Geneva, exchanging vows against a backdrop of sparkling blue waters and a quaint gazebo. The decor was kept on the understated side with the couple focusing the extras on the gazebo, which they draped in a stunning hydrangea and gladiola garland, allowing the beauty of the setting to shine. The newlyweds and their guests then moved inside for the reception, where they enjoyed inspired eats like tomato bisque shooters, peppered watermelon and surf and turf. The pair went for a classic, yet modern aesthetic, dressing the tables in dark navy and white linens, which they then topped with chic white lanterns boasting coral roses, hypericum berries, hydrangeas and ivory pillar candles. The couple treated guests to a candy bar and chocolate fountain with all the fixings before hitting the dance floor and surprised everyone with a photo booth filled with silly props.
