A Contemporary Mountain Wedding at Peaks Resort and Spa in Telluride, Colorado

When Margaret Price (28) and Ryan Walstrom (27 and a physical education teacher) began planning their wedding, they quickly decided on Colorado in the fall. “We are both Colorado natives and love the beauty of our mountains,” says Margaret, who chose Telluride for its intense natural beauty and personal connection—her family has been coming to the region for many years. In true Telluride fashion, the couple (clad in cowboy boots) took a gondola to the mountaintop ceremony on San Sophia Overlook, then held their reception for 80 guests at the nearby Peaks Resort and Spa. As for the theme, Margaret and Ryan wanted a vibrant, unexpected palette. “We used violet, navy and antique gold with accents of cranberry and greenery. The colors really popped against the aspens and added a bit of variety and dimension.” Margaret, who had Pink Diamond Events of Fort Collins, Colorado, plan the day, emphasizes the importance of hiring a professional. “I knew this was the only time I would be getting married, and I wanted to focus on the experience and our guests, not the other stuff,” Margaret says. “I also didn’t want to put that pressure on family members or friends. Hire a professional.” —Carolyn Meers
