A Colorful Wedding at The Winthrop Yacht Club in Winthrop, Massachusetts

Katherine Borden (23 and an orthopedic medical assistant) met Michael Monteiro (30 and a pool service technician) through family. The two shared a friendship for two years before dating. Three and a half years into their relationship, Michael planned to pop the question. On December 6, 2012, Michael and Katherine joked about a television commercial engagement and began talking about when their own engagement happened. The two joked their engagement was always "just six months away," never fully committing to a set time line. But at that moment, when Michael asked if he still had six months, Katherine responded "No, you only have until New Years, and then I'm going to start taking bids from other guys." Michael, pretending to get worked up asked "I definitely have until New Years?" to which Katherine responded "yes." "And then he takes my great grandmother's ring out of his pocket and says, 'How about now?' I kid you not," says Katherine. The couple planned a summer wedding over the course of their 18 month engagement. On July 26, 2014 Katherine and Michael said 'I do' in front of 150 of their closest friends and family members at Trinity Episcopal Church in Melrose, Massachusetts. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a view of Boston Harbor at the couple's reception, held at The Winthrop Yacht Club, Winthrop, Massachusetts.
