A Southwestern-Themed Wedding at La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, New Mexico
Santa Fe, New Mexico, has always been a city associated with Kayla (27 and a lawyer) and Austin Schumacher’s (26 and an environmental consultant) relationship. When they were planning their wedding, they knew exactly where to host it and what their theme would be: the city closest to their hearts. Capturing the essence of Santa Fe carried through to their food selection, colors, music, invitations and escort cards. “When planning our wedding, there were a couple of key words I used to describe the theme I wanted: bohemian, whimsical and colorful," Kayla says. "I wanted our wedding to embody the Santa Fe vibe. Santa Fe is artsy and vibrant with a Southwestern motif. It was important to me that we incorporate that feel into our wedding.” With a palette of purples, navy blues, turquoises, poppy shades and buttercups, they brought the city to life from their ceremony to their sparkler exit. “All our guests were traveling from out of town and many of them had never visited Santa Fe before," Kayla says. "We wanted all our guests to truly experience Santa Fe, and there seemed like no better way than to hold the ceremony in the heart of the city. The heart just happened to be La Fonda on the Plaza's La Terraza space, which turned out to be the perfect spot for not only the vows, but the reception as well." —Ginger Harris
