A Colorful, Rustic-Chic Wedding at the Park Crest Event Facility in Birmingham, Alabama

Hillary and Ben Kolber tied the knot in a rustic-chic affair with a palette of bright, cheerful colors in Ben’s hometown of Birmingham, Alabama.

While the couple had originally planned an al fresco fete, the onset of Hurricane Nate moved the event indoors—but Hillary and Ben didn’t let the rain get them down. The couple looked to bundles of seasonal blooms in a spectrum of lively hues to establish a lighthearted feel and bring their vision to life. “The color palette really captured the light, bright spirit of our relationship,” Hillary says.

Gold accents and lush florals infused the Park Crest Event Facility’s charming carriage house with a touch of modern elegance, while lush, suspended florals—Hillary’s favorite detail—lent a punch of personality and carefree flair to the celebration.

With Ben being a musician, top-notch music was a must for the reception. The pair enlisted the melodic expertise of TFC Band to get guests moving after dinner and keep the good times rolling all night long.

A tip for the taking from Hillary and Ben: “Pick your battles on traditional elements with your parents—we were so lucky that our parents were very laid-back and let us be a little nontraditional, but we had real conversations at the beginning about exactly what we cared about and worked together from there.”
