A Colorful Southern Wedding at Fenwick Hall in Johns Island, South Carolina
Nearly a decade after they met as undergraduates at Brown University, Nedenia Craig (29 and cofounder of Dee Hutton) and Reed Edmiston (30 and a director at MediaLink) became Mr. and Mrs. on the remote Johns Island just 20 minutes away from downtown Charleston. “Fenwick Hall was the perfect setting for its Lowcountry beauty and formality of a private home,” Nedenia says. The venue serves as the backdrop to their spirited “party animal” fete. “The tree-lined driveway certainly didn’t hurt either," Nedenia says. Nedenia, a fashion designer, outfitted her bridesmaids in brilliant ball gowns sewn from silk faille, alençon lace and Georgette. She even donned a dress of her design—an off-the-shoulder gown with a dramatic seven-foot train. “I wanted the day to feel like a runway show,” she says. As the newlyweds recessed up the aisle, a gospel choir performed Ray LaMontagne’s “You Are The Best Thing.” “My mom surprised me with that detail,” Nedenia says. Additional entertainment came from an electric violinist and one of Reed’s groomsmen, who performed an original first dance song for the pair. The black-tie dinner called for brass candelabras, verdant garlands and place cards made from fresh gilded pears.
