A Colorful, Modern Wedding at Berg Event Space in Kansas City, Missouri

Because Melanie O'Sullivan (26 and in public relations) and Brendan O'Sullivan (32 and in technology) plan to start their life together in New York City, the couple decided to bring the Big Apple to their hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. They chose Berg Event Space, a contemporary loft, as the venue for their urban reception. But instead of going with a minimalist color palette of muted grays, whites and metallics, Melanie and Brendan added their own playful twist to their modern decor and chose pink, blush and ivory as their wedding colors. Escort cards were displayed on a magnetic board with pink, blush and ivory floral magnets, and fun striped straws with guests' names were at every seat. The reception tables were set with mix-and-match vintage china and the sweetheart table was decorated with colorful fabric streamers. The vibrant flower arrangements added to the playful vibe. Melanie carried a bouquet with ivory roses and bubblegum pink ranunculus (her favorite!), and the reception tables featured centerpieces of fuchsia stock with roses, hydrangeas, eucalyptus and berries. One highlight from the wedding was Melanie's first dance with her grandfather. "Papa Dean recently underwent surgery due to colon cancer, so the moment we shared was truly special," she says.
