Marissa and Rachel infused both of their identities into one innovative wedding weekend. “It was fun coming up with the vision,” Marissa says. “I really enjoyed diving into all of the elements of traditional Jewish and Jain weddings to create a meaningful joint ceremony.” The day began with a baraat, which led to the signing of a ketubah, followed by vows with guidance from an Indian priest and a Jewish officiant. Low, Ikebana-style arrangements of anemones, peonies and greenery dressed wood farm tables. Coral peonies and soft pink ranunculus accented the watercolor- painted confection, which contained layers of lemon-and-plum and blood-orange-almond cake. Marissa and Rachel’s signature flowers made another appearance in the form of illustrations on their menus, adding color to the minimal place settings.  The night before the wedding, Rachel’s family taught the rest of the wedding guests traditional Indian dance moves. At the reception, the newlyweds joined in with their loved ones for the final chorus.
