Erica Annon (30 and a communications and marketing executive) and Shantanu Dhaka (30 and a tech entrepreneur) combined New England charm with Indian tradition to bring their colorful summer soiree to life. “Our approach became ‘Connecticut meets India'," Erica says. "We tried to keep each ceremony very distinct. Our family and friends loved experiencing the best of two different cultures in one weekend." For their Indian vows, Erica donned a hot pink lehenga before changing into a chic sheath for the Western ceremony, channeling Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s bridal style. Cocktail hour on the Connecticut River Museum’s Steamboat Dock included fresh oysters, artisanal cheeses, vegetarian samosas and mini lobster rolls. Tassel escort cards directed guests to their seats at tables topped with ikat linens, rattan chargers and whimsical elephant figurines. After a savory dinner of polenta and salmon, guests indulged in chocolate truffles and treats from a shortcake bar.
