A Colorful Indian Wedding at the Garden Pavilion in Sonoma, California
Neeharika Sinha (30 and a consultant) and Aditya Jayaraman (30 and an Engg manager) met at Carnegie Mellon University. They were both from Mumbai and had many of the same friends but hadn't had the chance to meet until they became friends at school. Known for being an excellent surprise planner, Aditya outdid himself with his thoughtful proposal. He took Neeharika to Oaxaca, Mexico and they celebrated her 30th birthday partaking in traditional Mexican culture. Just before midnight at the very end of her birthday he took her to the rooftop of a traditional terrazzo and proposed, overlooking all of Oaxaca. The couple wanted a venue that would allow them an even mixture of indoor and outdoor space as well as rooms where the wedding party and guests could stay for the weekend so they chose the Garden Pavilion in Sonoma, California. The space provided a beautiful vineyard atmosphere which the bride and groom decorated in bright orange and purple to include the colorful aspects of traditional Indian weddings. A playful theme of NYC vs. SF was used in designing the tables their bride and groom drinks,Manhattan's and Gold Rush's, as Neeharika and Aditya had spent much of their relationship dating long distance. As a fun way to say thank you to their guests, the bride and groom left hand written cards on each place setting and had a "Booth Bus", a photo booth in a Volkswagen Van full of custom made props for guests to take pictures in.
