A Colorful Autumn Wedding at Shady Elms Farm in Hickory, Pennsylvania

Plaid blankets, chalkboard accents and autumn-inspired treats like caramels and homemade pies lent undeniable fall flair to Julie Glaser (29 and owner of a floral and event design company) and Gregory Start's (28 and a technical writer) October wedding. “A festive autumn party felt perfect for us since we met in the fall and it’s our favorite time of year,” Julie says. Stunning florals were a no-brainer for Julie, who owns Pittsburgh-based floral company Sapphire & Lace Design with her sister Bethany. At the ceremony, freshly collected leaves lined the aisle and a cascading floral arch served as the altar. After the couple officially became Mr. and Mrs. with a personalized tree-planting unity ceremony, the couple and their guests celebrated in a barn with signature treats including old-fashioneds and a sweet sip dubbed The Perfect Pear. “It’s a drink recipe that I love from one of our favorite local restaurants,” Julie says. Additional indulgences ranged from a burnt almond torte to a dessert wagon filled with taffy and apple-flavored candy.
