A Colorful English Garden Wedding at Crossed Keys Estate in Andover, New Jersey

“We wanted everything to feel like a big party in our backyard,” Kathleen Mooney (28 and a board game manufacturer) says of her laid-back wedding to Kevin Mulcahy (30 and a learning and development coordinator). The couple took inspiration from late-spring wildflowers, creating overflowing arrangements of bright blooms and scattering petals down the aisle, while hydrangeas, spray roses, delphiniums, peonies, mini carnations and lemon leaf greenery framed the walkway. Mismatched bud vases, Edison bulbs and custom signage brought boho flair. Kathleen and Kevin even ensured that color would follow them into marriage: At the ceremony, they planted a Japanese maple, whose leaves turn a vibrant red or orange in the fall. An ombré carnation backdrop marked the sweetheart table, along with jewel-tone vases and votives. Chocolate cake with cannoli filling and vanilla icing finished the meal, and paper lanterns hung above the couple as they danced to “Let’s Stay Together” by Al Green.
