Liz and Zach share a love of adventure, which usually means finding themselves rappelling from a mountain. After spending their first date biking around Denver, then getting engaged on a European backpacking trek, the pair knew the excitement had to continue on their wedding day. “We wanted a mountain location with expansive views,” Liz says. “We love the outdoors, so we wanted the theme of the wedding to capture the natural beauty of what was around us.” Vibrant local wildflower arrangements and breathable indoor-outdoor spaces amplified the day’s casual, rustic vibe. “We wanted the inside of the tent to feel like an extension of the outdoor space,” Liz says of the reception décor. Guests also had the opportunity to help send Liz and Zach on a new path: The pair requested a fund for a new camper for newlywed journeys.

To center the ceremony and frame the couple, they stood under a birch wood arch decorated with bright flowers. Liz’s bridesmaids were surprised to find they’d coincidentally chosen similar navy dresses, which Liz found a good contrast to the bouquets of cheery florals. Liz’s mom, an artist, drew the mountain and river illustrations printed on much of the day-of stationery. “Zach and I aren’t really cake lovers,” Liz says. So instead, the pair cut into their favorite Key lime pie and offered guests slices from a mini pie bar.

Liz and Zach kept things casual with rustic exposed farm tables and neutral, textured linens. Not only did guests enjoy locally sourced creations like hot French onion soup dumplings and fresh tomato hand pies, but also Zach made good on his wedding vows to provide Liz with endless amounts of popcorn.  Liz’s mom used her artistic skills to create miniature houses out of colorful glass, a visual representation of the couple’s love of home, friends and family.

For a breath of fresh air between dances, guests relaxed at lounge areas set up outside of the reception tent.
