A Colorful Multicultural Wedding at Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, California
"A wedding’s venue really sets the tone of the entire evening, from the design decisions to the activities and other treats for guests," says Nicole. She and David wanted their wedding to reflect Southern California: warm, outdoors and coastal. They chose Saddlerock Ranch in Malibu, California, a winery and ranch spread over 1,000 acres on top of a mountain. The ranch offered the natural beauty Nicole and David were looking for as well as unexpected elements—like giraffes— since it's also an animal rescue. Other unexpected gems were the wedding party entering to a choreographed dance. “While everyone was enjoying cocktails and hovering at their tables, we kicked off the reception by dancing to a fully choreographed dance to "Jai Ho” (from "Slumdog Millionaire"). During the chorus, the entire 16-person bridal party joined in sync, and we did a three-minute choreographed routine in unison. It was totally unexpected, and the guests loved it,” Nicole says. —Ginger Harris
