A Colorful Barn Wedding at the Destrehan Plantation in Destrehan, Louisiana
Megan, an educator, 35, and Kaitlin, a patent examiner, 33, wanted a festive and colorful wedding to match their location. "Our wedding was inspired mainly by the spirit and liveliness of New Orleans and Louisiana. We chose the colors red and aqua because they are so vibrant and unique," says Kaitlin. The cheerful color scheme and atmosphere were reflected in the couple's colorful pre-ceremony photo shoot, bouquets, converse sneakers and invitation suite. They enjoyed a night of Cajun and County music, southern traditions, including a Second Line, as well as a reception filled with personal touches. (Kaitlin proposed with a vintage typewriter and lyrics from the Lumineers song, "Ho Hey." A typewriter and written instructions were present at the reception on at the guest book table.) The weekend of festivities ended with a crawfish boil for friends and family the day after the wedding.
