A Colorful Ballroom Wedding at Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, Virginia
Amelia Ballinger (29 and a meeting planner) and Daniel O'Brien (32 and a IT professional) tell people they met on the corner of Passion and Desire. They really met one night at their least favorite bar, where they were both dragged to by mutual friends. After three and a half years of dating, Dan proposed to Amelia with a ring at the bottom of her Christmas stocking (his stocking was filled with a ping pong paddle set). They were married at Belmont Country Club in Ashburn, Virginia in a colorful, fun celebration. The venue was a restored Revolutionary War era house with a modern style ballroom. The house had previously hosted President James Madison, the namesake of Amelia and Dan's alma mater, James Madison University. At the reception, vibrant flower arrangements of roses, viburnum, alstroemeria and dusty miller wreathed the dining tables and the hall was awash in purple uplighting and the glow of the chandeliers above. To her wedding, Amelia wore a simple, A-line wedding dress in white satin with a cathedral veil for the Catholic ceremony. Her bridesmaids wore purple satin dresses, while Dan and the groomsmen wore gray suits with purple boutonnieres. Amelia and Dan's beautiful occasion was charming and playful as they celebrated their union with their family and friends.
