A Colorful Backyard Wedding at a Private Residence in Westminster, Colorado

Wanting their wedding to feel like home, Stephanie Storch (27 and a registered nurse) and Matthew Freeman (28 and a surgical laser technician) used a colorful color palette—pink, yellow, blue and green—and lots of DIY details for their backyard soiree. “I didn't want to the wedding to be formal or very traditional, and I knew from the beginning that I wanted to make most of my decorations,” Stephanie says. “Instead of choosing one or two main colors, I chose four. I wanted everything to be bright and colorful to match how bright summer in Colorado can be.” Stephanie and Matthew wanted a venue that was close to home, and what could be closer than Stephanie’s parents’ backyard in Westminster, Colorado? “We wanted to get married somewhere special, but without the constraints of a traditional venue. The landscaping in the yard is beautiful and my mother spends all summer tending her flowers. The backyard also opens up to a huge open space with a view of the mountains.” We love the delicious menu from Frank's Bar-B-Q, along with three craft-beer kegs and an iPod for the DJ. “At the end of the day, we just wanted everyone, including ourselves, to have fun,” Stephanie says. “Remember that your wedding day is about you as a couple, so plan a wedding that is true to you.” See all our favorite details, beautifully captured by Kate Marie Photography, below.
