Although Kristin Jurik (27 and a property manager) and Justin Lamott (30 and a real estate broker) didn’t have a theme in mind when they started planning their wedding, they used their coastal wedding venue as inspiration to pull off a chic fete. “When we saw First Colony Inn we knew instantly that was it,” Kristen says. “The historic bed and breakfast, which is located between the Atlantic Ocean and Roanoke Sound, was the perfect setting for our coastal, rustic wedding.” It was an added bonus that the couple’s family and friends could stay in the 26 rooms at the inn or the oceanfront hotel across the street. “It was exactly what we wanted,” she says. “Everyone we love came to be with us all weekend to celebrate.” Not wanting to compete with the gray wood venue or grassy green surroundings, Kristin and Justin chose a sea-glass palette in shades of blue, green, brown and gray, and Dorothy Morris from Bells and Whistles helped pull all the details together. One of our favorite details was the sentimental accents Kristin and Justin placed through the decor, such as a bike at the entrance, since Justin taught Kristin how to ride a two-wheel bicycle; there were oyster shells in the centerpieces since it’s a family tradition to enjoy North Carolina oysters at least once a year. Kristin and Justin definitely wanted their day to reflect their personalities, and we can't help but love it. “It was laid back, romantic, personal and fun,” Kristin says. “When you mix a bunch of Southerners and Yankees, it can go one of two ways, and luckily for us, it was absolute perfection.” See all our favorite details from this gorgeous wedding, captured by Genevieve Stewart Photography, below.

The bridesmaids wore floor-length chiffon dresses for the coastal wedding. Kristin wanted their look to match the blue and green palette, so they each chose the color and style that best suited their bodies and personalities. The look came together beautifully!
The flower girl wore a simple white ball gown with subtle stripes for the coastal wedding. She completed her look with an adorable white ranunculus, white lisianthus and champagne rose flower crown for a little boho flair.
The wedding ceremony took place on the south lawn of First Colony Inn in Nags Head, North Carolina. Kristin and Justin loved the large grassy space and how it was surrounded by a small garden, lush bushes and trees and the pool.
Kristin and Justin’s altar was made of large antique doors that were draped with hanging amaranths, white roses and plenty of branches and leafy greenery. It was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony because it combined coastal with botanical and vintage—all the styles they wanted to incorporate.
First Colony Inn Gray Wood Wedding Venue
Kristin and Justin decorated the entrance of First Colony Inn in Nags Head, North Carolina, with a bicycle decorated with lots of lush flowers. “Justin actually taught me how to ride a two-wheel bike,” Kristin says. “As a man who grew up at the beach, he couldn't date a girl who didn't know how to ride a bike. All it took was Justin's gentle nature and overwhelming patience to keep me on there long enough to make it down the street.”
Kristin and Justin purchased 125 baby succulents for their florist and planted them into small glass votives that Kristin’s mother painted to look like mercury glass. They finished each with personalized thank-you cards that decorated the place settings and that guests could take home. “Succulents are the only plant that we can keep alive, and that is only because they require little to no maintenance,” Kristin says.

“The oyster shells were special to us because Justin's family introduced me to North Carolina oysters,” Kristin says. “It is a tradition that we have every year and will continue as our family grows.” The shells were paired with floating white roses, succulents and rustic silver votives.
For dessert, Kristin and Justin enjoyed a two-tier white buttercream cake. The cake was topped with a silver letter L in honor of Justin’s last name. It was decorated with white and blush roses for a touch of romance. In addition, Kristin’s mother made Greek desserts the whole week leading up to the wedding in honor of Kristin’s family’s heritage.
Kristin kept her accessories for her wedding pretty simple to match the coastal wedding location. She did wear a dainty gold chain bracelet with a Greek eye that she purchased as a friendship bracelet for herself and her maid of honor.
