A Coastal Fall Wedding at Harborside Restaurant in Newport Beach, California
Members of the same church, Hannah Patrick (24 and a family therapist) and Johnathan Sutterfield (25 and a project manager at Aria) met on a service trip building houses in Tecate, Mexico. As all teenagers beginning new relationships do, Johny wrote a speech asking Hannah to be his girlfriend and the two dated for the next 8 years. They had both rowed in high school and went on to row in college, attending schools right around the corner from one another. Johny planned a surprise engagement for Hannah, having her friends walk her by the tree where they had once carved their names. He came running out to her and proposed right beside their tree overlooking Newport Harbor. The ceremony was held at St. Andrews Presbyterian church, not only the place where Hannah and Johny met but also the chapel where Hanna's parents were married years earlier. The bride and groom wanted classy traditional decor and used a beachy color palette with greens, blues, and light turquoise. Hannah knew how easy it would be for her to decorate the ceremony and reception in light and soft hues but wanted Johny to feel like the day belonged to him as well and made sure to include his favorite color, green, in everything. Their coastal vibe was accompanied by rustic touches seen in the DIY wooden centerpieces and hand planted succulent favors for the guests. Following the advice of the dj, Hannah stayed on the dance floor almost the entire night to guide the fun and Johny caught up with guests on the deck overlooking the harbor. Together they were able to create a day that really made their guests feel special, topped with a toast of appreciation from the bride and groom. At the end of the night, Johny and Hannah drove away in her old jeep with the top down, still fully dressed in their wedding day attire.
