A Classy, Romantic Wedding at Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pennsylvania

Carrie Gettings (31, psychotherapist) and Nicholas Mahoney (34, gastroenterologist) met one night at a bar on the south side of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Nick passed by Carrie with two drinks and she asked him if she could have one. They ended up talking for the rest of the night and less than a month later they were dating. Three years later, Nick surprised Carrie with dinner and a proposal. The couple decided to get married at the Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pennsylvania. This historic country club was the perfect setting for their traditional, intimate wedding, with beautiful grounds for the outdoor ceremony and an airy ballroom for the reception. Carrie and Nick's color palette with contrasts of soft peach and bold navy blue was romantic and fun. Flowers at the spring wedding included pale peach peonies, white freesias, dusty miller, viburnum, peach-orange tulips, white hydrangeas and pink and white English roses. Instead of bouquets, the bridesmaids carried peach clutches decorated with rosettes that popped against the navy blue satin of their dresses and the groomsmen wore striped peach ties with their gray suits. Carrie gave Nick a groom’s cake shaped like a football and decorated with a stethoscope as a nod to his favorite sport and his job. The newlyweds cut the three tier wedding cake with the same serving set that Carrie’s parents used to cut their wedding cake. Carrie and Nick’s country club wedding was classy, romantic and fun.
