A Classic Winter Wedding at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum in Las Cruces, New Mexico

With a soft palette of navy, pewter and ivory, Taylor Black (21 and self-employed) and Christopher Porter (23 and a naval aviator) pulled off an elegant winter wedding in Las Cruces, New Mexico. With its views of the nearby Organ Mountains, the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum provided a one-of-a-kind backdrop for the classic affair. An outdoor ceremony kicked off the festivities, with Taylor and Christopher gathering their families and friends on the museum’s stone patio for the occasion. Lush white flowers lined the aisle, leading to a handcrafted wooden cross decorated with vines and ivory blooms, in front of which the couple exchanged vows. Tall swaying grasses and the mountains beyond added to the decor, lending its natural beauty to Taylor and Christopher’s classic decor. An indoor reception followed in the museum’s banquet hall. Christopher’s mother and aunt crafted all the centerpieces, arranging roses, ranunculus and hydrangeas in gold lace-trimmed vases, which they displayed atop mirrored plaques. Mercury-glass candleholders added a hint of modern glitz, while ivory linens and gold chiavari chairs highlighted the couple’s classic theme. After dinner, the couple took to the dance floor for the traditional reception dances, during which Taylor and her father surprised guests with a choreographed dance to a mash-up of upbeat hits. —Libby MacCarthy
