A Classic, Winter Wedding at the Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C.

Michelle Arelio (29 and a researcher) and Justin Perdue (30 and a pastor) met at church. It took less than a year after that for them to get engaged and married. Justin proposed to Michelle at the National Harbor, where the couple had their first date. They decided to get married at Christmas time at the church where they met, the Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. "I wanted everything, from the flowers to the decor, to be simple, yet classic," says Michelle. "I've always loved dark purple, and since we were having a winter wedding it seemed an appropriate choice." Justin and Michelle contrasted the deep purples in their wedding with slate gray. Bridesmaids wore long eggplant dresses with black stoles to shield against the winter cold, and groomsmen wore gray tuxedos with wine colored ties. Flower arrangements were simple, with white chrysanthemums for the bride and a range of purple and pink chrysanthemums for the bridesmaid bouquets, centerpieces and cake. The bride looked svelte in a lace, mermaid style wedding dress which she accessorized with pearls. Despite pulling it off within a matter of months, Justin and Michelle's D.C. winter wedding was cozy and classic.
