A Classic Wedding at the Wickliffe House in Charleston, South Carolina

Megan Casserly (30 and works in public relations) and Zach Georgeson (34 and a consultant) knew they wanted to get away for their wedding, and Charleston, South Carolina, was the perfect place. “We love the magic that Charleston offers, so we used that as our inspiration,” Zach says. “We wanted our guests to experience everything that early 19th-century Charleston has to offer: music, food, flowers, historic venues and drinks.” The Chicago, Illinois-based couple started their day with a traditional Catholic ceremony at Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and ended it with an upbeat soiree at the Wickliffe House. Low Country classics such as shrimp and grits, crab cakes and macaroni and cheese, all deliciously served by Mediterra Catering, added some Southern flair to the reception—especially since they were locally sourced. We love the stunning floral arrangements from Ginny Lomel Connel, which included a muted, romantic bouquet for Megan and bold pops of color—shades of pink, green and yellow—for the bridesmaid bouquets. Even the beautifully simple wedding cake from Wild Flour Pastry was topped with a lush, pink peony for a little added romance. There are so many details we love.
