Erica, 31, a teacher, and John, 33, works in customer service relations, met at a wedding. John proposed at the Grand Basin at Forest Park and surprised Erica with having her friends and family be there. The couple wanted a classic wedding with modern flair. The exchanged vows in a purple-lit ceremony followed by a classic reception with silver accents, both at the Palladium in St. Louis. They had traditional details such as printing the invitations in both English and Chinese for John’s extended family, and John’s sister played traditional music during the reception.

Erica and John used Beyond the Paper, an European Etsy designer, for their purple and white invitation suite. John is Chinese so they included a wedding invitation written in Chinese for John’s extended family. Each invitation was hand tied with lavender twine.

“We let our florist use her creativity to create modern bouquets,” Erica says. She carried lavender and white roses, dusty miler and hypericum berries.
