A Classic Wedding at the Casa Monica Hotel in St. Augustine, Florida
After having a long-distance relationship for about seven years, Carolyn, a trauma nurse practitioner, 27, and Sean, a nursing home administrator, 31, became engaged and had a classic wedding in St. Augustine, Florida. "St. Augustine was a special place for us while we were living in different cities,” says Carolyn. “We would take little day trips there when I visited Sean in Jacksonville." The couple chose ivory, gold and black as their wedding colors. They were married at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine and held their reception just a short distance away at the Casa Monica Hotel. "We loved that our guests could easily walk around the city, and to-and-from the church on the evening of our wedding," says Carolyn. The couple decorated their reception with gold chiavari chairs, amber and gold lighting and a black dance floor. When it came to the menu, Carolyn and Sean payed particular attention to detail. "Our friends and family members are foodies for sure, so the menu was pretty important!" says Carolyn. The couple served a strawberry and spinach salad before their guests received their choice of a filet or Chilean sea bass with cilantro and truffle oil. For dessert, Carolyn and Sean had a buffet of cookies and milk, candy and cupcakes for their guests. Each of their friends and family members were also given a bag of sweets to go from Chic Sweets as their wedding favor. The couple's time with their guests extended beyond the reception and into the Casa Monica Hotel's lounge and bar area. "We relaxed, had some cocktails, and just laughed," says Carolyn.
