A Classic Wedding at Lone Star Mansion in Burleson, Texas
Everything about the wedding of Melissa Finley-Thompson (34 and a staffing manager) and Tom Thompson (35 and an oil and gas account manager) spoke to the theme of classic romance. Their venue, Lone Star Mansion in Burleson, Texas, a large mansion with white columns, a pool area and reception hall-full of oversize windows, was a beautiful and comfortable location for the couple and their 90 guests to spend the wedding day. “I have always loved ‘Gone with the Wind,’ and this property reminded me so much of that movie,” Melissa says. Going along with the elegant venue, Melissa’s wedding dress was a showstopper! She wore a strapless trumpet-style gown from Blu by Mori Lee, with embellished rosettes from the bodice through the chapel train and a crystal belt for extra sparkle. Tom incorporated touches of Texas throughout the wedding, including Texas Tech University cuff links for the groomsmen and a Texas Rangers groom’s cake. The wedding cake was stunning too: The top and bottom tiers were decorated in edible lace and floral appliques, and the middle tier was solid gold. The couple’s favorite part? “One of the best things we did was have our wedding party spend the entire day at the mansion,” Melissa says. “The girls had the entire top floor and a bartender available to make cocktails while we got ready, ate lunch and visited. The guys had a ‘man room’ with a sauna, pool table and bartender to hang out all day. That time before our wedding with our closest family and friends was very special.” See the sweet details, captured by Fairy Tale Photography, below.
