A Classic Wedding at a Private Residence in Minnesota
Lindsay Davis (30 and a director of operations) and Michael Longballa (38 and an insurance agent) met online through Match.com. On Lindsay’s birthday, Michael took her to an apple orchard, knowing how much she loves them, and proposed. The couple had their wedding on Michael’s parent’s property, five acres with a manicured hay field and a meadow. “We both love to be outside, so this was perfect for us,” says Lindsay. There can be snow on the ground in May in Minnesota, but on the couple’s wedding day, it was a sunny 90 degrees. She wore a Maggie Sottero dress and added a champagne ribbon and a brooch, completed with a birdcage veil from Etsy. The color palette was green, ivory and gold, so she carried a bouquet of green chrystanthemums and mixed flowers. The couple gathered furniture from garage sales, vintage stores and even the side of the road to paint and set around their wedding as props. Nine nieces and nephews roamed the meadow and rung bells just before Lindsay walked down the aisle and as she and Michael were announced husband and wife. The traditional “something blue” at the wedding was raspberry lemonade that guests drank throughout the evening. As a favor, the bride and her mother made little jars of apple jelly and tied a poem to the jar. A late night snack of sliders from White Castle (Michael's favorite) arrived in the middle of drinks and dancing. The couple ran through an array of sparklers as they left for the evening.
