A Classic, Waterfront Wedding at the Marina Inn in South Sioux City, Iowa
Emily Kaplan and Brian Soloway planned a classic, waterfront fete in Emily’s hometown of Sioux City, Iowa, for their early-October nuptials.
“Sioux City is where my parents still live—it was comforting to know someone would be on the ground able to assist,” Emily says. “October is also a really beautiful month in Sioux City as the leaves begin to change and the feeling of fall rolls in.”
Immersing their guests in the beauty of the season, the couple hosted the elegant affair outdoors. The celebration kicked off with a traditional Jewish ceremony along the bank of the Missouri River, where the couple exchanged vows under a natural wood chuppah draped in vines of ivy and lush ivory and blush florals. “Watching Emily walk down the aisle with her parents to the song "Boi Kala" was my favorite of the day,” Brian says.
An expansive open-air tent played host to the reception, offering the couple’s family and friends with views of the water as they dined and danced the night away. Sophistication and simplicity dominated the décor. Natural wood accents and a color palette of ivory, blush and burgundy hinted at the fall season, while keeping the evening’s aesthetic light and airy.
“As a surprise for Brian, I had special cocktail napkins produced that were scans of cards he had sent me during our long-distance relationship,” Emily says.
The Patrick Lentz Band kept things upbeat with a set list of lively tunes, while SNAP Photobooth offered the couple and their guests a fun way to capture the evening. As a special late night snack, Emily and Brian treated everyone to their favorite eats from Taco Bell.
