A Classic Waterfront Wedding at Castle Hill Inn in Newport, Rhode Island
Wanting their wedding to feel like spring and quintessential New England, Kim Williams (30 and works in marketing) and Tommy Wilkes (34 and works in finance) worked with a navy and ivory color palette with pops of pink, coral and gray throughout the details. They also added ultra-local touches with vintage Newport postcards, which guests wrote on and sent to the couple after they returned from their honeymoon; a nautical Newport map that was used as the guest book; welcome bags including Del’s Lemonade and dark-and-stormy cocktails; and Castle Hill’s delicious cookies as the wedding favors. Kim and Tommy decided to exchange vows at Castle Hill Inn in Newport, Rhode Island, because Tommy wanted to get married on the water, and Kim had fallen in love with the venue after a brunch with her family (before she had even met Tommy!). The gorgeous venue had everything they wanted, from the stunning lawn overlooking the ocean where the ceremony was held to the sailcloth-tented reception. Joyce Holland of Stoneblossom Floral and Event Design added an ethereal garden feel to the wedding with amazingly lush floral arrangements—including on the rustic wedding arbor. Stephanie Frazier Grimm from Couture Parties worked with the couple to ensure they got hitched without a hitch, and Jill Person from Person and Killian Photography beautifully captured all the details of the day. One of the best parts, though, was the delicious, local menu, including crab cakes, lobster-avocado rillettes, Narragansett Bay littleneck clam casino, lobster sliders and Georges Bank scallops and bacon! Yum!
