A Classic Vintage Wedding at Fox Pavilion in Hays, Kansas

Lauren Healzer (25 and an accounting specialist) and Casey McAvoy (30 and a marketing manager) met the summer before Lauren started college. On their romantic first date, Casey showed up with a pound of ground beef and taco supplies in hand, and captured Lauren’s heart with his humor. Despite Lauren reminding Casey that she did not want to get engaged on her birthday, Casey surprised her by showing up at her work with a clydesdale horse and carriage and showing her a scrapbook of their relationship before getting down on one knee—all on her birthday. The couple decided to get married in Hays, Kansas, the same town they met and live in. Their ceremony took place in a quaint Presbyterian church near their house, and the reception moved to the Fox Pavilion, an old theatre surrounded by brick streets that fit the couple’s vintage theme. Lauren chose a lace, fitted trumpet style Enzoani Diana wedding dress, and Casey wore a black tuxedo. The rest of the wedding party dressed in gray and neutral tones. The wedding had a vintage, mid-century feel, amplified by the neutral color palette and decor, which included meaningful items that belonged to Lauren’s grandmother. When it comes to style, Lauren encourages other brides to stay true to themselves. “It’s you and your husband’s day, and it’s a time to showcase your style and taste with everyone. They will all love it, because after all, it’s ‘you.’”
