A Classic, Vintage-Inspired Wedding at Race & Religious in New Orleans, Louisiana
Carly Fekete and Derrek Roskovensky channeled the culture of New Orleans for their day. "We tried our best to capture the city's love of music, delicious Cajun cuisine and free-spirited culture. Above all, we wanted it to feel unique and refreshing," Carly says. A simple wedding invitation with vintage-inspired calligraphy introduced guests to the celebration, which happened at Race & Religious. Carly wore a simple white dress, which she paired with a whimsical pink bouquet. Derrek went with a classic black tuxedo. The ceremony took place in the venue's courtyard, and it featured plenty of "wild" and "unstructured" flower arrangements. "We went with ghost chairs and ivory linens, which looked beautiful but didn't try to steal the show," Carly says. At the reception, the fare was all NOLA. "Our menu was composed of po' boys, shrimp and grits and an oyster bar," Carly says. The couple served beignets rather than a traditional wedding cake for dessert, but still kept a classic feel with a champagne tower.
Our favorite #MakeTradition moment: Since they got married in New Orleans, Carly and Derrek had a traditional second line. "We had a strolling reception that left guests energized and able to explore the property, visit different food stations, and tear up the dance floor," Carly says.
