rn Alex Young (25 and a teacher) and Joe Lancaster (28 and a law student) filled their classic, traditional wedding with a bunch of modern twists, adding an beautiful touch to the whole event. After a ceremony at the Lutheran Church of Hope in Des Moines, Iowa, the party moved to the Embassy Club West for the reception. "We loved the area because there was so much open space with plenty of ways to decorate," Alex says. The couple decorated their open space with gorgeous orchids and roses, floating candles in large cylindrical vases and a sign of the couple's initials made from white orchids. A standout detail? The peach Vans sneakers that the bridal party wore, to match the gray Vans sneakers the groomsmen wore, adding a whimsical touch to the wine red bridesmaid gowns, the gray groomsmen suits, and Alex's gorgeous trumpet-style Maggie Sottero gown.
