A Classic Summer Wedding at Camp Robindel in Moultonborough, New Hampshire

Katie Smits and Sean Slattery created an epic wedding weekend for all of their guests at Camp Robindel, a traditional New England girls' summer camp on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. "I spent my summers at Lake Winnipesaukee. Sean would join me for trips to 'the lake' and grew to love it just as much, so we decided to look for venues up there as well," Katie says. "The second we pulled into the camp and saw this gorgeous expanse right on the lake, we knew this was where we wanted to get married."  The couple rented out the entire camp—including cabins to hold up to 300 guests and the camp staff—for the wedding weekend. "Our friends that stayed in the cabins at the camp had a true camp experience. They were served all of their meals (other than the wedding dinner) in the camp cafeteria and had full access to all of the camp facilities," Katie says. The morning of the wedding, the couple organized a soccer game at the camp, as well as yoga on the beach. Then everyone attended a waterfront ceremony on the lake, followed by a reception in the recreation hall. It was an open room with tall ceilings and huge windows that overlooked the lake. "A few days before the wedding, we went to the camp with Sean's family and hung hundreds of feet of draping from the ceiling," Katie says. "We also incorporated local natural elements like birch trees and greenery into our decor, and pale blue details (many of which were watercolor based) to complement the natural elements surrounding the venue." Other unique features included a signature cocktail display, a beer serving station in a boat and greenery hanging behind the sweetheart table. Sean sported a custom-made navy suit, while Katie donned a sleeveless, ivory mermaid gown with a lace illusion top and a crepe bottom. The bridesmaids wore sky blue dresses, while the groomsmen coordinated with Sean in navy.
