A Classic, Spring Wedding at the Inn at Longshore in Westport, Connecticut

Living on the Connecticut shoreline, Lori Coupe (32 and a marketing manager) and Greg Peters (36 and a consultant) knew they wanted a wedding with views of the water. Situated on the Saugatuck River, the Inn at Longshore in Westport, Connecticut, was the perfect place to host the classic affair. In addition to the beautiful views, the historic property offered plenty of event spaces for the couple to choose from. Before heading to the Inn for a night of dinner and dancing, Lori and Greg exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Fairfield, Connecticut. The couple looked to the spring season for inspiration when choosing their color palette. Shades of white, green and sangria purple felt fresh, fun and popped against the backdrop of the water. Not wanting to detract from the beauty of the Inn at Longshore, Lori and Greg kept the decor simple and understated. They dressed up the tables with carriage lanterns, lots of candlelight and small arrangements of lightly hued blooms. Details like antique suitcases and trunks, destination-themed table names and wine-cork escort-card holders made from corks the couple had saved since they started dating were touches that reflected Lori and Greg’s relationship. Says Lori: “We host a lot of dinners and parties and we always think of our guests first, so we knew it should be no different for the biggest party we would ever throw.” As a result, crafting a memorable menu was high on the couple’s priority list. At the cocktail hour, guests were treated to a sushi chef dishing out freshly made maki. For dessert, the newlyweds served up delectable treats like Pink Cupcake Shack cupcakes in flavors like salted caramel and Key lime, plus Italian pastries, mini ice cream cookie sandwiches and a coffee bar with digestifs. Following the unforgettable feast, everyone hit the dance floor, pausing only to strike a pose at the couple’s photo booth. “There was a line all night and it was so much fun the next day to see all the pictures from the photo booth, which were compiled into a guest book for us,” Lori says.
