A Classic Southern Wedding at The Plantation on Sunnybrook in Roanoke, Virginia

High school sweethearts Lauren McClung (24 and a human resources generalist) and Chad Connor (24 and a financial adviser) became husband and wife at the Plantation on Sunnybrook, a charming estate overlooking the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in Roanoke, Virginia. “I had always wanted to get married outside, and this space was my dream come true,” Lauren says of the venue. Lauren and Chad exchanged vows under a large white pergola that was decorated with sheer white curtains and floral tiebacks. Surrounded by statuesque cypress trees and a rose garden, the couple said “I do” in front of 160 guests. The ceremony and reception were decorated with a subtle and romantic color scheme of pale pink and white with gold accents. “I wanted everything to feel very romantic and pretty,” Lauren says. Elegant gold metallic details included framed table numbers, a mirrored seating chart and sweetheart table linens. Floral arrangements included a mix of white hydrangeas and delicate pale pink roses. “I wanted to keep it simple and classy,” Lauren says. Personal touches were found throughout, such as a custom monogram seen on the programs, cake topper and handmade wood plaque that served as the couple's guestbook. Surrounded by family and friends, Lauren and Chad celebrated by dancing the night away on their charming venue's outdoor veranda.—Marissa Hermanson
