For their wedding, Jaci Sites (30 and a veterinarian) and Kyle Wells’s (31 and a commercial real estate developer) fused timeless elegance with natural, organic touches to create the ultimate alfresco affair with a low-key Southern twist. The Legare Waring House, where the wedding took place, turned out to be an excellent source of inspiration. The Row of Oaks, historic mansion and undeniable Charleston charm played a role in determining everything from the menu to the flowers and even the stationery. “We took a week to visit many different places in Charleston to search for a venue,” says Jaci. “We visited Legare Waring House somewhere in the middle of the week and really lost interest in continuing the search because it was so perfect for us.” Playing off the locale, Jaci and Kyle chose a color palette rich in soft earth tones like ivory, green, blue and touches of gold for a subtle touch of glamour. Blue Planet Green Events’ floral arrangements could not have been more fitting of the affair; the fresh bunches of succulents, white dahlias, lisianthuses, pale blue delphiniums, eucalyptus, hydrangeas and curly willow capturing the essence of the lush surrounding landscape. All of the flowers were repurposed throughout the day, which not only helped cut down costs, but each portion of the evening to feel cohesive. Ivory linens, burlap runners, flowers, lanterns and birch vases were also used to enhance the surrounding landscape. “Our venue was so beautiful to begin with that we didn't want out decor to be overbearing,” says Jaci. Another standout detail? The mouth-watering menu of Southern cuisine. Cru Catering seriously delivered, serving up a selection of classic Lowcountry fare, like fried green tomatos and crispy apple smoked bacon wrapped quail. For dinner, guests enjoyed a variety of different stations, where everything from shrimp and grits, Southern style barbecue brisket and four cheese macaroni and cheese with bacon and scallions were on offer. At the end of the night Jaci and Kyle whisked moved the party to the rooftop at Market Pavilion Hotel in downtown Charleston, where they and their guests danced the night away. A tip for the taking from Jaci: “Don't sweat the small stuff! Actually, don't sweat anything! That is why you have planners and professionals who create these special days for a living. Just have fun and don't worry about anything else!”

Not wanting to detract from the beauty of the Legare Waring House’s natural surroundings, Jaci and Kyle had Blue Planet Green create elegant, yet subtle floral arrangements for the tables. Each centerpiece featured fresh bunches of hydrangeas, delphiniums, eucalyptus, succulents, dahlias and lisianthuses displayed in birch bark vases and Mason jars.
Jaci’s bridal look was all about classic elegance. To match the timeless feel of her gown, Jaci opted for understated accessories, hair and makeup that when paired together really packed a punch. For jewelry, she wore a pair of crystal drop earrings that played off her gown’s embellished Jim Hjelm sash. She kept her makeup on the natural side, choosing a nude lip and a shimmery eye. And for her hair, she had the stylists with Paper Dolls pull her hair back into a low curled updo.
Jaci selected a metallic dot jacquard dress by Jenny Yoo for her bridesmaids. Because of their strapless cocktail style, neutral color and subtle print, the dresses could easily be worn again, a major plus for all the girls. The bridesmaids paired the look with nude or metallic pumps and sandals and their own jewelry.

The bridesmaids’ bouquets played off of Jaci’s own and were filled with a mix of eucalyptus, succulents, blue delphiniums and white dahlias, lisianthuses and mums. The colors tied in seamlessly with the soft hue of their dresses, as well as the Legare Waring House’s natural setting.
Cocktail hour took place out on the Legae Waring House’s expansive lawn. While guests sipped on cool beverages from the open bar, Cru Catering served up a delectable selection of Southern comfort foods. The menu included fried green tomatoes, fried panko and coconut Brie, and crispy apple smoked bacon wrapped quail. rnrn
The flowers had a distinct natural look to match the lush landscape of the Legare Waring House. Blue Planet Green filled Jaci’s bouquet with a fresh mix of eucalyptus, dahlias, succulents, lisianthuses and succulents in soft shades of blue, ivory and silvery green to create the ultimate fusion of softness and texture.
While the Legare Waring House’s Row of Oaks was stunning on its own, Jaci and Kyle decided to give the outdoor space that little extra something with the addition of bunches of fresh blooms. Blue Mason jars filled with a mix of white roses, lisianthuses, stock and eucalyptus were placed on alternating rows lining the ceremony aisle.

Vignettes were set up throughout the property with Lowcountry inspired lounge furniture, where guests could kick back and relax when they needed a break from dancing. To give each vignette an air of ambience, strings of bistro lights were hung overhead and votive candles were placed on each of the cocktail tables.
Taking advantage of the good weather and the setting’s charming natural landscape, Jaci and Kyle hosted the ceremony outdoors. The Row of Oaks at Legare Waring House offered the perfect setting for the event, the canopy of Spanish moss-covered trees giving the space an intimate, whimsical feel.

Jaci and Kyle decided to keep their wedding day fashions aligned with the wedding’s classic Southern vibe. For Jaci, that translated into delicate lace and an elegant, feminine silhouette. On a visit to Rizik’s Bridal in Washington D.C., Jaci spotted the perfect gown — an Alvina Valenta mermaid gown with a sweetheart neckline, all-over ivory lace and a champagne colored base. She added a crystal and pearl embellished belt by Jim Hjelm as a finishing touch to give the dress a little extra “wow” factor.
