A Classic, Soft Blue Wedding at Our Lady of Sorrows in Kansas City, Missouri
Allison Way (28 and works in marketing) and Michael Carroll (28 and a resident physician) met while competing on their respective college swim teams. Inspired by their meet-cute on a pool deck, Allison and Michael planned a party filled with aquatic accents as a nod to their love of swimming. The couple followed their traditional Catholic ceremony with a glam party in a space that served as “a blank slate for us to paint our vision on,” Allison says. Pale blue linens topped long dining tables, sitting alongside acrylic centerpieces of sophisticated all-white blooms. Additionally, towering white orchid and calla lily arrangements blended the bride’s glamorous, traditional style. Allison’s mom helped to add a few personal touches to the day’s design, including personalized cocktail napkins that displayed facts about the couple and a custom popcorn bar that served as a salty late-night snack. “We named all of our popcorn flavors after memories that Michael and I share,” Allison says. Confetti rained throughout the reception when the duo was announced as Dr. and Mrs. Carroll, and later as Katy Perry’s “Firework” played on the dance floor. “Our entrance was one of my favorite parts of the night,” Allison says. “Our friends and family shot confetti from small tubes—it was awesome!”
