A Classic, Rustic Wedding at University Club of Denver in Denver, Colorado
Elizabeth Plummer (27 and works in sales) and Michael Parker (26 and works in finance) met through mutual friends at a college party. After a weekend of skiing, the couple came home and there was a box from Elizabeth’s employer for her. It was a nice winter coat, so she tried it on and started looking for the employer’s logo. “Mike, at this point, was down on his knee zipping up my coat, but I was too busy looking for the logo to notice,” she says. “Once the coat was zipped, I realized there was something in the pocket. It was a small wooden box. I continued looking for the logo, and Mike asked what was in the box. When I opened it, there was a beautiful square-cut diamond with five smaller diamonds on each side. Of course, I cried and said, ‘Yes!’” Elizabeth and Mike wanted a classic city wedding, and they chose the University Club of Denver since it was surround by a lot of hotel options for their guests and was only a few blocks from their home together. Plus, they loved the old-world feel with dark wooden walls, stained glass windows and awesome menu options. They decided on a neutral color palette with shades of purple in the menswear and blue and pink in the bridesmaid dresses. They made the floral arrangements themselves with hydrangeas and succulents, Elizabeth’s favorites. They kept the reception decor simple with antique tea sets and candle sticks. At the end of the night, instead of having one traditional wedding cake, they had several smaller cakes from Two Irish Guys that were delicious.
