A Classic, Rustic Wedding at the Homestead in Glen Arbor, Michigan

With a diamond ring stashed in his tackle box, Lucas Bogard waited until he was alone on a deserted northern Michigan beach to propose to his longtime love and college sweetheart, Caitlin Littmann. "We went canoeing, and it was the most romantic setting," Caitlin says. "I learned later that he was nervous that he was going to tip the canoe and lose the ring." While planning their summer nuptials in Glen Arbor, Michigan, the pair successfully blended both of their styles to create a rustic yet classic affair at the Homestead. "I like simple designs, while Lucas is from up north, so he loves more of a rustic vibe," Caitlin says. A chic palette of blush, navy and ivory paired perfectly with wooden details, creating the rustic yet timeless affair they were after. "Our ideal location was surrounded by the natural beauty of northern Michigan, and the Homestead delivered just that," Caitlin says of exchanging vows at the top of the venue's ski mountain—a scenic locale that boasts vistas of nearby Lake Michigan. "With its forests, streams, waterfalls and dunes, the setting was idyllic." —Rachel Sylvester
