A Classic, Rustic Wedding at California Pines Lodge in Alturas, California
The classic wooden interior inside the California Pines Lodge in Alturas, California, contributed to the rustic theme for this simple wedding. "Alturas can only be described as 'where the West still lives,' and that is in fact the town's slogan," Stacey Parnow (25 and a lawyer) says of her marriage to Raymond Todd (24 and an accident reconstruction investigator). "Our reception was at a rustic lodge overlooking a lake, which is one of our favorite places to go out to dinner." Stacey wore a beautiful Pronovias dress with a ruffled skirt for the wedding, which fit perfectly when she first tried it on and needed no alterations. To complete her classic look, she wore a medium-length cathedral veil made of tulle and a simple pearl necklace and pair of earrings, captured on camera by Michelle Wallace Photography. Groomsmen matched the groom and wore casual gray vests with matching pants, while bridesmaids wore knee-length purple dresses that went along with the subtle purple and yellow palette. Bouquets matched the boutonnieres and were mostly made of yellow sunflowers, which were placed in mason jars wrapped with white lace. After a delicious meal of chicken, vegetables and potatoes, the four-tier wedding cake wrapped with burlap around each layer was served, filled with flavors of lemon, chocolate, marble and carrot cake. Our favorite detail? The wedding favor goodie bags, which gave guests a little bit of everything, from lemon-poppy seed biscotti to Irish breakfast tea and chocolate-covered almond biscotti. "The element of the day that best reflected Raymond and me as a couple was simply the involvement of family and friends," Stacey says. "We wanted to share our day with them, and it wouldn't have been the same without everyone there."
